We’re asking artists from the U.S. and China to work as a team to portray a positive future of these people-to-people relationships that have existed throughout history, are alive today and will continue indefinitely. These ties between the two nations come in many forms, including, but not limited to, familial relations, educational partnerships and experiences, trade relations, scientific cooperation, sports, historical and cultural exchanges, tourism, and much more.

Stories About The Artists
Tristan is a fine art artist from the USA and Cadie is an illustrator/Fine art artist from China.
Cadie and Tristan met at Fort Hays State University in 2015 while on different paths in their academic lives. Tristan arrived as a transferring undergraduate while Cadie came as an international graduate student. One of the first people that Cadie met at FHSU was Tristan. Cadie also happened to be the first person Tristan met at FHSU, this makes their friendship dear. Ever since they met, they were not only friends but terrific mentors to each other!
Tristan was the first person Cadie thought of when she found out about this project. Since they currently live in different cities, this project was a good opportunity for them to collaborate and spend time together outside of their former academic lives. When Cadie asked Tristan if he wanted to do this project he was extremely nervous because he had not ever made anything purely on Photoshop, so she had to be a mentor and explain how to operate Photoshop for the project. This project reminds them of their time together at FHSU. To Cadie and Tristan, this project proves that unity is possible and that creativity nurtures positivity.
In the artwork, the artists are in their studios collaborating on an artwork that visually represents unity. Their frendship grows as a tree with blooming flowers. The veins divide the image into different sections which they fill in with things that they love. Such as food, music, books, and art-related items. USA and China have operated the exchange students program since 1978. Cadie and Tristan had the amazing opportunity to meet each other through the education they shared at FHSU, and their friendship is a token that demonstrates how art and love bring people together. They may be two different people that are living their separate lives now, but they have the passion for creativity that brings them together.
